Walter W. Fedeler, Jr., 82, of Sumner, died Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Unity Point/Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Curt Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April11th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday.
Walter William, Jr., son of Walter, Sr. and Gertrude (Zieske) Fedeler was born November 6, 1934, at the Zieske Family Farm, rural Fredericksburg. He was baptized at home and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Junior received his education in the Sumner Schools. He worked for Sumner Pack, Chicago Great Western Railroad for eighteen years before working for Kirchmann Plumbing and Heating in Sumner. On April 17, 1982, he was united in marriage with Becky Gruenberg at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Junior owned and operated Fedeler’s Plumbing and Heating in Sumner since 1984, and did so up until September of 2016, when his health no longer permitted. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner where he served on the church council. Junior enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, yard work, gardening, but most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Becky of Sumner; Junior is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Ted) Bulman of Frederika; three grandchildren, Carter, Mason, and Isabelle Bulman of Frederika; and several cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, Walter, Sr. on March 28, 1955, mother, Gertrude Platte on September 15, 2008; two step-fathers, Glen Lentz and Erwin Platte; father-in-law, Robert Gruenberg on October 17, 1982; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
